The Trauma Healing Training was established as a compassionate response to the deep emotional and psychological wounds carried by individuals, families, and communities often as a result of conflict, abuse, loss, or crisis. Rooted in the redemptive power of the Gospel and the healing presence of Christ, this training program is a vital arm of Gura Ukuri Bible College, equipping Christian leaders, counselors, and caregivers to minister healing and restoration to the brokenhearted.

Recognizing that trauma is both widespread and deeply personal, the college developed this program to offer biblically grounded, culturally relevant, and emotionally sensitive training. The goal is to raise up believers who can walk alongside those in pain with empathy, wisdom, and hope bringing the light of Christ into the darkest of places.

The Trauma Healing Training combines theological truth, psychological insight, and practical counseling tools. Participants are trained in:

• Understanding the nature and impact of trauma
• Biblical responses to suffering and pain
• Active listening and presence-based ministry
• Facilitating healing conversations
• Grief, loss, and forgiveness
• Inner healing and prayer ministry
• Trauma-informed pastoral care
• Community-based trauma healing strategies

The program uses a participatory model, including storytelling, group processing, Scripture engagement, prayer, and personal reflection. It is designed for pastors, Christian counselors, social workers, ministry leaders, and anyone called to be a vessel of healing in trauma-affected environments.

One of the unique strengths of the training is its ability to address both individual and communal trauma—particularly in regions affected by violence, displacement, or generational cycles of pain. Graduates are already serving as trauma healing facilitators, counselors, and compassionate leaders across churches, schools, refugee ministries, and community organizations.

At its core, the Gura Ukuri Trauma Healing Training reflects the heart of Isaiah 61:1 “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…” As part of Gura Ukuri Biblical College’s broader mission, this program continues to empower leaders who bring restoration, resilience, and lasting transformation through the love of Christ.
